vomit and a blowout

Marley vomited all 7 ozs of the formula I gave her about 1/2 hour after she was fed. Really freaked me out as this is only the third time she has vomited, and the last time she had a seizure afterwards. There was puke everywhere!

But instead she was all smiles and babbling away but I almost had a heart attack. As most of you know we are waiting for her next seizure.

I tried to give her pedialyte and she wouldn't take it. She then proceeded to have a HUGE blowout.?

I finally got her to fall asleep.

But I'm paranoid that she has some stomach virus, will spike a fever and have another seizure.

I know she is teething. Do you think that could have anything to do with her weird behavior? There is drool and snot all over my house.

Why can't this be easy??

Re: vomit and a blowout

  • I have heard that excessive drool causes diarhea, but not throwing up.  We had a stomach virus here that was miserable, and I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that does not happen!  However she did not have a fever with it just vomiting and diarhea!  Good luck!  I hope her temp stays down to prevent her seizures!

  • I am sorry that this is such a stressful time for you, so I send hugs to you.  What you are describing very well may be teething.  I know my DS definitely has very loose stool when in the height of teething.  I hope the best for you and your family.
  • You know I worry when Harmon gets sick and we don't have half the issues to worry about that you do!  (((HUGS))).  It does sound like some sort of bug.  Harm has had it twice and each time everything is streaming out of both ends.  Have you tried the pedialyte popsicles???  GL!  Keep us updated.

  • Yuck!  DS has had 2 stomach bugs this winter, and neither came with a fever.  But he was throwing up everywhere and nasty diarrhea.  I hope Marley feels better and it was just a fluke thing.  I know teething can cause diarrhea, and maybe an upset stomach too, if her tummy was full of drool.

  • My DD and two of my friends' kids all puked when their molars started coming in...and they all had varying degrees of blowouts, too.  For all 3 of us, our kids hadn't puked since, well, since they stopped the infant spit-up stage.   And none of our kids were sick - once they were done with the 1 time puke, they were all back to their normal playful selves.  Still, it's so frightening to watch - both for mom and baby...even more so for you, I'm sure, given your that you're on the look-out for another seizure!

All this to say, it very well may be teething.  (and oh what fun the molar teething times are...)
