Does an IUI hurt?

Okay so I'm in my first 'round' (I started 50 of clomid last night) and are hopefully (!!!) going to have our first IUI....I have a question for those who might know.... does an IUI hurt? I'm not a baby about pain I just like to know the facts going in! :)

Re: Does an IUI hurt?

  • I have had 2, and am preparing for my third, and they don't hurt at all.  It is a very easy procedure, I was surprised about how easy it was really!  It only takes a few minutes, and then you can go about your day as normal.  Good Luck!

  • I can barely feel it and I almost passed out from my HSG, so I don't have a high tolerance at all.
  • awesome! great news! thanks ladies!
  • I agree.  The HSG was worse.  If tou survived your HSG, the IUI is a breeze.  I found that I was crampy off and on during the day, but nothing terrible.

  • I had b2b IUIs last month and the first one KILLED! Not kidding. The second one was a breeze like everyone said. I remember thinking "I never remember anyone saying anything about this!!" as I lay there hearing the Dr say "oh you felt that did you?"...geez, it was horrible, had really bad spotting that day after too. The next day they didn't have to use something - not sure what exactly - I just remember him saying to the new lets try it without today.

Just wanted to give you the flip side, chance are it'll be a breeze though :-)

    Good luck!

  • It didn't hurt the way an HSG did, but it was uncomfortable for me, and then I had pretty bad cramps the rest of teh day. ?I was thankful I wasn't going to work that day.

  • I might be the exception, but mine hurt like a B@#ch!  My dr. actually was not sure if she could go through with it, because she could tell how much pain I was in.  I have a jacked up cervix, so I am sure that was the problem.  GL.
