can you get a false positive by dipping an hpt too long? I think I just got a +. I tested at 3:30 and got two pink lines but I dipped it for 30 seconds and the directions said only to dip it for 3 seconds?

No, it is testing for HCG. the line will only appear if there is HCG present.
