Infertility

A couple more IVF questions

Does everyone do a mock transfer?  So far my RE hasn't mentioned anything about one yet.

As far as the baby asprin, I take one everyday (even before this IVF cycle)per my RE and I assumed I just continue that along.  Am I supposed to be stopping it before or after ER/ET or continuing?

I go in tomorrow where I'm sure I'll get my questions answered, but I'm just curious what everyone else does.

Re: A couple more IVF questions

  • I can't answer the baby aspirin question b/c I do not take them; but I can tell you that I am in the 2ww of IVF#1 and we never did a mock transfer.  I didn't even know that was something that happens until I saw it mentioned on here.

  • I take asprin all through the 2ww. I would stop it if I got a BFP per RE.

As for a mock transfer, not all clinics do it. I had mine done while on BCP with my last RE, with my new RE I won't be having one.

  • my RE didn't mention a mock transfer until i asked (bc i saw ppl mention it here). ?she told me they do it while you're under for the ER. ?when i've taken baby aspirin, i stop a few days before the ER and then start again after ET.
  • I had a mock transfer when they did the hydrosalinogram (whatever...I know I didn't come close to spelling that right) and my schedule shows that I should start taking the aspirin the day after the ER.
  • I can't answer the baby aspirin question since I don't use it, but as for the mock transfer. . .

My RE performed one immediately before the actual ET, like mere minutes before.  I'm not sure what they would have done if it didn't work. . . but that's just the way they do it at my place and everything did go well (with the transfer anyway, it was still a BFN).

My RE never mentioned a mock transfer, but I guess that was because at the place I go they typically just perform it as a routine part of the transfer.  So my RE performed one immediately before the actual ET, like mere minutes before.  I'm not sure what they would have done if it didn't work. . . but that's just the way they do it at my place and everything did go well (with the transfer anyway, it was still a BFN).

  • I did a mock transfer which turned out to be useless. The RE who did the mock noted how my cervix was shaped and what instruments would be needed. On the day of the transfer, the RE (diff one) said he would not go with the recommendation from the mock because the cervix does change and mine indeed had changed. So he went with something diff than was called for on the mock.

I was told to stop baby aspirin after ER and I didnt have to continue. I think some people with certain blood conditions like clotting, take it for longer.
