2nd Trimester

Flutters?

Can anyone tell me when they first felt their baby "move" "flutter" "kick?"  I've read that the first flutters can happen before 20 weeks, and I believe that I had my first flutter yesterday.  I'm 15 weeks and 5 days.  It almost felt like a gas bubble, but it wasn't.  It was almost like a butterfly in my stomach.  Hard to explain, but I know I have not felt that before!

Re: Flutters?

  • I felt the first "flutters" right around 16 weeks.. then it was almost a week before I felt anything again, and that night there was a good 15 minutes of movement I could feel. I've only felt it one other time though, so I'm not to the point of feeling consistent movement on a daily basis yet.?

  • I felt it around 15 weeks too.  The fluttering sensation was probably your little one saying hello.  Congrats!

PS: You're from Norfolk?  I'm moving there this summer!

  • I started feeling flutters at 14weeks.

  • Sounds like it was your baby. It's easy to mistake a flutter for a gas bubble and vica versa, but a good rule of thumb is that if you don't fart/need to poo soon afterwards - it was the baby.
  • Right before 16 weeks I felt it. It sounds like what you are feeling as well. It was very inconsistent & still is, although now I am feeling it for longer amounts of time when I do feel it. Congrats! I got all tearful the first time I felt it!

  • I felt the first little movements a litle after 14 weeks.  Nobody would believe me since that is so early, but you know your own body!

  • This is my second child so I knew what I was looking for this time, but I was sure about flutters around 14 wks.
  • I've had what I think are a few flutters...but I'm still waiting to "know" that's what it is...because this is my first and I'm just sure what I'm looking for.

  • Thanks! I had a few people that told me that I was too early to feel anything yet.  I love it when everyone else tells you what is going on with a body that isn't even theirs!!!  I did get tears in my eyes.  I'm not even in maternity clothes yet and sometimes I do not even feel that I'm pregnant.  This made it completely real to me!

Yes Norfolk is OK, hubby baby and I will be moving back to VA Beach in the next few years.  We would rather our children in the VA Beach school system.

Thanks to all who responded, you all made my day!!  :)
