What was your list of IVF meds? I know everyone is different, will get different meds and I won't know what my list is until we get there but I'm an anal planner and would like to get a rough idea of what is in store. Our insurance has a great online tool that tells you what your out of pocket cost is going to be for a certain med and I would like to pull together a rough estimate of what we will be looking at. Thanks Ladies!
Re: IVF Meds, what was your list
Here's mine from beginning to end:
Alesse 28-day BCP
Lupron 14 day kit (1 vial of Lupron, 14 syringes, alcohol pads)
4 - Follistim 900iu cartridges + pen
1 - vial Low-dose hCG (I think this was chorionic gonadotropin)
5 - Medrol pills (I forget the dose)
14 - doxycycline pills (again, forget the exact dose)
1 - Valium 4mg
5 - vials Progesterone in ethyl oleate
Plus a ton of syringes for the PIO, Lupron and low-dose hCG. I think that's everything.
IVF #1 : BCP, Gonal 4, 350iu, Repronex 150iu, Lupron, started at 10iu and dropped to 5iu once I started stims. PIO, Vivelle Patches, doxyciline (sp) triggered with Novelle
IVF#2 - BCP, Gonal F, Repronex, Ganerellix (Cetrotide is the same thing and less costly) PIO, Estridoil Patches (thye are cheaper then Vivelle but are HUGE in caparison) doxyciline and methorelate sp? Triggered with Novel
IVF#3 - Bravelle (cheaper then gonal F), Repronex, estridoille, estrace and endometrium. Triggering with ovidrel
I have done 3 different protocols. Each with different drugs. I also switched REs after the 2nd IVF failed and when we knew we were 100% OOP for drugs (rare in this area) he allowed me to choose the less expencive form of stimming over the very costly one.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

it totally depends on your protocol, but for my Ganirelix Acetate protocol (which is an antagonist protocol), I was on the following:
BCPs
Follistim
Menopur
Ganirelix
Estrace
Endometrin
an hCG trigger (can't remember the name of it)
Zithromax (antibiotic for ER)
and then OTC baby aspirin and PNVs.
BCP (2 packs at 12.00 a piece)
Lupron
Follistim
Ovidrel
Crinonine
Estrace (haven't purchased yet)
Basically the Lupron, Follistim, Ovidrel and Crinonine is what I specially ordered if not for insurance I would have paid 2,349.
Yaz BCP's (got these free from RE)
Lupron
Bravelle
Menopur
Ovidrel
Crinone
Prometrium
Vivelle dots
Levaquin antibiotics
Medrol
various needles for infects
total was $2360 (my ins. picked up Lupron, antibiotic, medrol, prometrium and vivelle dots)
also PNV's and baby asprin
I get 7 days worth of antibiotics to start the day of my ER to help prevent infection, then my husband gets 7 days to take before ER in order to get rid of any underlying infection in his sample on the day of ER. I know doxycycline is rather common, but I don't know if not taking it is good or bad. Maybe ask your RE about it and see what they say.
