Wow...that is really sad

As I'm sitting here at my kitchen table, there's a baby bird screeching outside the window (basically, we're in the two week period we can call "Spring" before all hell and humidity breaks loose).

Anyway, he's growing louder and louder, and I find myself thinking, "How is it that a bird who clearly can't address the needs of her hungry child gets to have as many babies as she wants, and I can't even have one?!?"

Dear heavens.....I'm actually, slightly, jealous of a bird!

  • I am jealous of any reptile, mammal, insect, etc that can reproduce at alarming rates :(

  • It's amazing how easy it is for some creatures to reproduce.  Jealousy rears its head at some strange times when you are dealing with IF.

  • This is really sad but when I was in Fl on an alligator airboat tour they showed us a nest where a female gator had laid some eggs.  She sat there with it and waited and waited and they never hatched!  So basically she sat there waiting for her babies to come and then she eventually had to give up.  She had a m/c.  When the tour guide was telling the story I just felt so bad for that gator and I could really identify with it.  So they have problems too sometimes...
