Sometimes IF can be so difficult

For various reasons, my DH and I have decided not to tell our respective families about our fertility treatments. DH and I went to North Carolina last weekend for my SIL's wedding. My MIL desperately wants to be a grandmother. So, she starts talking to me and says it looks like my SIL won't have kids because she and her DH aren't interested, also her DH already has an 8-year-old daughter from a previous marriage. And then she said that I was starting to get to be too old to have kids, so DH and I probably wouldn't have any. I'm 39. WTF!!!! But all I said was, yes you're right I am getting older and that DH and I have been trying but we haven't had any luck (all of which is true).

Her comment really hurt my feelings though!

IF does suck!!! Sorry some people just dont understand to think before they speak!!! We were open to our families so these stupid comments didnt come up.

I would have started crying right then and there. ?I'm 38, and that thought crosses my mind all the time. ?

I know that it can be difficult to let people in on your struggle.  DH, in typical polar opposite fashion, is very private when it comes to our life together.  If he had his way, nobody would ever know that we are having TTTC.  I find that it's therapeutic to talk, so I chatter on about it endlessly.  It really sucks that you had to deal with such an insensitive comment.  Hopefully it will be awhile before you have to see her again and she'll keep her mouth shut next time!
