Infertility

SA Question

DH got the results of his 2nd SA back today (the first was inconclusive).

The girl from the lab said:
Count: 169 million

Motility:70-79

pH: 8.5

Slower speed, most moving forward, some slight lateral movement

his sperm have giant heads and some pin heads.

Any thoughts? I wish I knew what the morphology was but the lab girly didn't tell us.
Google (I know! I need to stay away from Google!) doesn't give very much positive info about giant heador pinhead sperm.

I really appreciate any info you guys can offer.

Re: SA Question

  • did the lab give you any context when you talked to them?
  • Loading the player...
  • Every lab can be different in their analysis...if they don't give you a morph number pursuant to a Kruger or WHO standard, its not real helpful without their input as to parameters.  When is your appointment to follow up on this?  Was the SA done at a RE?
  • I am learning too about SA readings & I was told my H count was 74 million & my RE said anything over 20 million was good & anything over 50% motility was good. My RE called my H "superman sperm" today. Imagine my H's ego now!
  • We got the report over the phone today and see the RE again in the morning. I am very anxious to see what they have to say.

Thanks for the input, we are very hopeful we will get some positive answers or at least a push in the right direction.
