Wow - thanks so much for the link to the related Babywise AAP article! That is pretty scary and is definitely all I needed to dissuade me from finishing the book or considering the method. As a first-time mom, I guess I just keep second guessing my instincts (which are telling me on demand everything is best) relative to aspects of what is best for him and his sleep - both short term and long term. Logic tells me that he is just so little and every cry means something and is a call to action for me and DH - DS hasn't learned cause and effect crying yet, yadda, yadda, yadda...however, I guess I have let other people's comments get to me regarding "spoiling" him and the dangers of co-sleeping and/or other short-term sleep soothers/fixes, which require an even more "painful" unwinding period.
BTW, I'm soooo happy to read that Baby C is adapting so readily to the Ferber sleep training! It serves as even more confirmation to me that (like all of you wonderful veteran Moms already know) on demand is the way to go for the first few months before starting a schedule/routine/training. Nothing is more important to me than Jacob's overall happiness and well being.
Thanks again!
Tricia

Oh, no - I asked for candor and I don't think [or at least I hope] that anyone was offended by the information you shared against the Babywise method. It sounds like most everyone on this board has read many different methods and have sort of taken from bits and pieces of this theory and that suggested routine, etc. - a la carte style. That's what is good about this board - we are all a bunch of educated, intelligent women who can both formulate and share tried and true best practices. I don't think any of us blindly follow any prescribed method - instead, using a combination of styles that suit our DC and our family best.

LOL about Real Housewives! I agree about the current cast of NYC - Simon and Alex are toally creepy! LuAnn is obnoxious and Kelly is way too stiff and self-absorbed; however, I can't get enough of Ramona, Bethenny, and crazy Jill. Did you read that the next in line is Real Housewives of Jersey?!? I'm not joking!
I just saw that story this morning! Sounds like an interesting cast they've got lined up!
I haven't watched last night's episode yet but I heard there's some good drama between Simon and Ramona! I don't like Kelly either. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but she really irks me.
