Hey, happ, re: identity theft

Do the police or you think there is a correlation between your wallet being stolen a while back and the identity theft situation last week or so? Just curious. I just saw that you have money again. Yay! Hope you got it all straightened out. Made Me sick to my stomach just reading about it (you too court!).

  • no, one didn't have anything to do with the other. I canceled those cards within an hour of the theft.

This time around, they used a card that never left my possession. Apparently it's a new scheme--they have this device that can pull info right from your pocket, or if they're behind you in line, they can pull it as you're using your card. Then they print their own card, identical to yours, but with their own pin number, and then they have access to your account via atm. Also, those "blink" cards where you wave your card in front of the machine make it very easy to pull info too.

Oh, and get this: the police said a lot of times the people that actually WORK at the bank will make copies of cards and sell them to people. W.T.F.?! So they're doing an investigation, looking at the video footage at the atms--they used one in Manhattan and then the same one at a town half an hour away from me 3 times in a row. Hopefully they find the_***

  • That's focking nuts! So, mh's side of the family isn't so crazy when they say to wrap your wallet in foil to disable information stealing devices? Wow. I hope they catch the assmunch that did this.
