Pregnant after 35

Tender Belly

My tummy (and hips a little too) feels all chapped, it's red and dry, I put coconut oil on it every night, and after my shower in the morning, I lotion it at least once during the day. I bought vitamin E today and rubbed it on there too. It just feels so sensitive. Plus, while we were with the family last weekend for the funeral my MIL freeking rubbed it every time she introduced me to someone, it was so creepy. I started rubbing it myself while she was introducing me to people to try to make her keep her hands off of me.

Did you have this? I mean the chapped feeling belly, not the handsy MIL!

Re: Tender Belly

  • My tummy hasn't been chapped like yours but it has been itchy. I've been using Burt's Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter on my tummy and hips (and boobs) to help with the dryness/itchiness.

However, my hips have been really aching. I wake up in pain and haven't liked the body pillow my SIL lent me. I'm wondering if that Snoogle or another type (smaller than the body pillow) will help?

  • The handsy MIL LOLOL!!   That's a little creepy, but terribly funny :)

Burts Bees stuff is pretty fabulous.   They actually make an apricot oil for the babies which I use in the shower for myself even now.. maybe give that a shot?   Or straight shea butter?

Robyn-  I have a huge body pillow too, and found that it smushed down too much to be supportive.   I ended up getting a king sized latex pillow, and it's saved my LIFE.   JCpenney.com :)

  • I should be the queen of skin issues, I have huge brown blotches all over my upper legs and lets not even talk about the the dry skin and peeling skin under my boobs.  I was told to put baby oil in my bath water which seems to somewhat help, I live on Lubriderm lotion and Euecrin lotion and also palmers coco butter.

I just use an old pillow to sleep at night, I have a body pillow but my DH complains it takes up too much room and it does I can't get comfy with it.

The only 1 I let touch my belly is my mom.  No one else besides the DH are allowed.  I purchased a shirt from cafepress.com with a funny saying for people who get touchy feely with the belly.

  • Maybe you need to eat more fattening food?  I swim 2 times a week in a chlorinated pool and my skin is OK considering.  I use Curel Anti Aging and I think I do eat a lot of  fattening food! (pizza!!!)
