Multiples

Thought I was going to pass out on the train this a.m.

I woke up this morning, had a glass of water then a bowl of cereal.  About 45 minutes later I was on the train and started feeling sick to my stomach.  Then I broke out into a cold sweat, my hearing went, then everything turned white. It lasted about 3 minutes & I thought I was going to pass out but didn't.

When I got into work I called the nurse at my OB's office and she told me it was most likely low blood sugar, but I thought that was strange b/c I had already eaten breakfast.  Has anything like this happened to anyone?  Was the cause low blood sugar?

Thanks :-)

Re: Thought I was going to pass out on the train this a.m.

  • i had this happen a couple months ago - and it was low blood PRESSURE causing it.  My OB had me come in and checked me out- and my bp was quite low.  She said to increase my caffiene and salt intake (i was not having any caffiene at all before then and trying to limit salts)..... once i started to do this- it got better.

in Feb i had one more issue of feeling dizzy- so i ate a bag of chips- and then was fine.

i'd have your BP checked out.  I'm sure it was not low blood sugar since you had cereal for breakfast.  BP will do it to you - easily- and is quite common with pg- esp multiples.  Get it checked out so you don't pass out while driving!!

  • Thank you for responding.  I had an OB apt yesterday and my BP was 116 over 68, so it was a little lower than normal.  I am feeling better now that I've gotten to work and had more water and a bagel w/ cream cheese, but I'll add a cup of coffee in there as well....thanks Smile

  • I had to stop driving around 20 weeks b/c I kept fainting.  Ended up in the ER twice and they just attributed to my pg and told me that I needed to take it easier.  I came off work at 22 weeks and stopped fainting.
  • I had a couple of episodes like that - usually early in the morning. My OB had me do bloodwork and I was very anemic. She had me increase my protein intake and put me on iron pills, which helped.  For me cereal was not a good enough breakfast - I needed something with protein to really hold me.  I started making egg sandwiches, eating peanut butter toast, drinking Ensure shakes with a bagel and cream cheese etc. in the morning and that helped a lot.
