i know a lot of you will say that this is a surname and shouldn't be used as a first name, but it has been used as a first name since the middle ages. i usually don't like names nearly as common as this, but it's been one of my favorites since i was little. anyway, what are your thoughts?

How ironic; I was going to post this same thing earlier today.

I really like Davis as a first name, which is a little strange since I'm not crazy about the name David.  I've only known one Davis IRL, and he was such a good-looking, good-natured guy. I've liked the name ever since.

I like it! I actually know one guy named Davis and never thought the name was strange or unusual.

i'm not a fan of david, either. for some reason i see them as totally separate names.  i know a few in real life and they're all really nice guys.

This ties back to the thread about surnames as first name. While Davis isn't bad, I wouldn't choose that name to call my son. The only true surname I like is Smith but, unfortunately, I can't use it as a co-worker and good friend of mine already has.

I like Davis and know two. An adult that is an attorney and a 6 year old.

I like it. Do you think people would call him Dave though? That's the only reason I probably wouldn't use it, I don't like Dave...
