Does your DC sleep with a paci?

DD started sleeping with a paci about a week ago. She use to go down without one but now if she does go to sleep with out her paci she wakes right up in 5mins. wanting her paci. When I give it to her she goes right to sleep. She does not wake  (yet) when it falls out. I dont mind that she wants it I just dont want her to need it to ge to bed. She does not want it any other time of the day. How did and when did you start weaning your DC from the paci?

Re: Does your DC sleep with a paci?

  • Nope. Dd used to sleep with a paci when she first came home from the hospital and now she hardly ever uses one at all.

  • I know I don't have much experience, but my son's 1st 3 nights he would only sleep w/ a paci and would wake up if it fell out. Since we've been home and my milk has come in he hasn't wanted it all. Kind of glad since I don't have to get up to replace it.

  • Honestly...it depends on the day/his mood. Sometimes he wants nothing to do with a paci - sometimes he really needs that sucking to soothe himself

  • Yes, he uses one.  It soothes him and then he spits it out.  He is only 6 weeks, so I am not really worried about "bad habits."  I will worry about that later!  I guess I just feel that if he needs it now, give it to him.  I will deal with the weaning later.  GL.
