Trying to Get Pregnant

EPO & Delayed Ovulation

CD 36, and I have yet to ovulate.  I googled like crazy yesterday trying to find an explanation and came across this tidbit of info: If you take 3000mg of EPO/day, it can delay ovulation.  Just thought some would like to hear!

Re: EPO & Delayed Ovulation

  • WTF???? I don't think I take that much, but I wonder if that's why my once 28 day cycles became 37 last month. Geez

  • I would imagine that it can effect people in different ways.  Perhaps we are more sensitive to it?  I was so irritated when I read that!!
  • Don't flame this dumb question but what is EPO?

  • Sorry, and no problem!!  EPO is Evening Primrose Oil.  It is a supplement some say can help improve cervical fluid.
  • 3000 mg is a very high dose. i took 100 mg/day and the cycles i took it were actually shorter than my previous cycles.

  • The most irritating part is that it hasn't even really helped me. I had like half a day of EWCM last month and nothing so far today (I'm pretty sure I'm o'ing because of the +OPK and o pains). Screw it, I'm throwing it out and sticking to Preseed from now on.

Ya, it didn't even really help me either, but I haven't even O'd yet!  We got some pre-conceive too, and that seems to work just fine, side effect free!!

My pills came in 500 mg form, and the bottle said take 3 pills/2x day, I think.  I, in my rage last night, passionately threw them in the trash.

It works for some, and not others I think.  It just depends how your body reacts, I think.  I vote for using Pre-Seed or Pre-Conceive before taking a supplement.

If one does choose to start a supplement ALWAYS talk to your DR. first!!

3000 was the reccomended dose in all the articles I read before starting.

I know, right?  Geez.  The internets can be dangerous.  Moral: Always talk to your Dr.!!

  • I didn't see any results from Green Tea. I recently got EWCM the same day as Fertile Day 1 on the OvWatch and the EPO seemed to help. We use PreConceive too, although have not needed it as much. Cyles have gone from 38-45 to about 32. (Also taking Vitex)
