I dropped my daughter off at the childcare center this morning and the staff member in the room taking care of the infants is one of the girls that usually works in the kitchen. The lead teacher has the day off, and instead of calling in her aid, they have someone that's only trained in the room for a day taking care of 4 babies by herself. This makes a total now of 5 different staff members that have been working in the infant room in less than a month. I asked the assistant director about why there have been so many people and she said that they've had several people quit in other rooms so they've been having to move staff around to cover shortages. I'm not happy about it because how is DD supposed to bond with her caregivers if they keep changing? I'm rearranging my day so that I can pick DD up in a few hours and I'm having a serious talk with DH tonight about staying at home. Like I said, I tend to overreact, but to me this is not quality childcare, and unfortunately it's one of the best places in our town.
Re: Ok, I know I tend to overreact, but...
"When it comes to sleeping, whatever your baby does is normal. If one thing has damaged parents enjoyment of their babies, it's rigid expectations about how and when the baby should sleep." ~ James McKenna, Ph.D., Mother Baby Behavioral Sleep Center, University of Notre Dame
I would have an issue too. I don't think you are over-reacting. I love the care givers at our place, but they have "administrative issues" which are annoying, but the "care" is what matters.
Good luck !
