Advice - Changing to Formula

We would like to begin to EFF.  Any advice on how to transition completely? Right now I have been Eping and DD gets about 1 btl of form a day (usually before bed).  I was thinking about alternating bottles - 1 formula then 1 BM.  Will this be a shock to her system? I can't imagine going cold turkey would be good.

Re: Advice - Changing to Formula

  • I would ask your pedi what they suggest. I was told to go cold turkey... but that was due to DS's allergy to my milk.

  • I just weaned myself from pumping and gave him smaller and smaller amounts of BM each day (as much as I pumped) until he was only getting formula.  It went fine.  You could also try mixing your BM in with the formula and slowly increase the amount of formula is in there until there is no longer any BM.  Good Luck!

  • We alternated bottles and he did fine.  I didn't want to mix the formula with the breast milk in case he didn't finish the bottle.
