i highly recommend rocker/recliners. We have one for DS's room and it has been GREAT to have - b/c not only can we rock him- but we have had to sleep in there many times when he was sick, etc. i also spend a lot of time sleeping in it at the end of my first pg.
the way i see it- you want a chair that is COMFY b/c you may end up needing to sit/sleep in it a long time certain days/nights.
We have a rocker/recliner in our dd's room too (she's 2 now). We still rock in it and I have used the recliner part at times but I don't think it's as necessary....I would get a rocker or glider though.
We got a Poang chair and ottoman from IKEA. Rockers/gliders make me motion sick believe it or not, but this chair has a bit of bounce to it, enough to lightly rock/bounce baby to sleep.
I love the upholstered gliders, the are so comfy in the middle of the night. When my twins were infants, I could easily rock/nurse both of them. Plus it's a nice chair that can stay in your child's room as they grow. Just slip cover if you change the theme.

We got an upholstered glider, I love that it looks like a regular chair but glides.
You might like the gliding part for your own back and legs, and it may help when soothing the baby. But it may all be a personal preference.
