Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Colic

Does anyone's LO have Colic? My DD has reflux and colic and I was just wanting to see what some of the coping skills are that you use to calm baby.  The reflux is more under control now that DD is on Prevacid and we have added a tsp of rice cereal to the formula per pediatrician.  Thanks for the help.

Re: Colic

  • DS has colic. ?We use Colic Calm and I have just started DS on probiotics. ?We hold him in the superbaby position, do the 5Ss, walk walk walk walk walk. DH and I pass the baby once one of us has had enough and needs a break. ?

  • Mine does.  To start with we got a homeopathic product at Whole Foods called Cocyntal that has seemed to help at least make him a little easier to calm.  Other than that every night we have had to drive for at least 45 min each night and then as soon as we get home get him in his swing immediately.  Thats about all that works so far.  Our pedi said movement helps them so hopefully that helps.

  • Have you thought about getting an Amby bed? ?I was thisclose to buying one off of craigslist last night. ?They are supposed to really help with reflux and are good for colic too because the baby is propped and it has constant movement. ?I have no experience with one personally, though.

  • I have never heard of the Amby Bed.  I am going to go see what it is.  Thanks for the suggestions from everyone...it is a tough thing and so miserable to see your LO like that.  SO sad and so difficult.  Very stressful!
  • The good news is that it will eventually passed.  It also helped to hear the pedi say we were doing everything right and it wasn't anything we were doing wrong.  It's hard not to beat yourself up though.

  • DD had reflux and colic also.  The dr. said the superbaby hold helps and colicy babies like movement.  DH and I would take turns taking care of DD and breaking eachother.  It was hard because we didn't get to see eachother much but it kept us sane.  Once DD hit 3 months things have been a lot better.  I know how tough it is and I never could've imagined it would get better but it does.
