First of all, dd HATES baths. She starts crying as soon as her feet touch the water.
Has anyone else dealt with this with a 4+ month old? I feel like she should be growing out of it by now...
Okay, my real worry is that her skin gets all blotchy when she's been in the warm water (and she's crying the whole time). Last night her back was purple with bright red blotches on it. It goes away after she's been out of the water.
I've tried Googling, and I've got a call into the pedi. I just wanted to see if this happens to anyone else.
Thanks!
Re: Splotchy Skin During Baths?
Too warm was my thought, but ask the ped! It could just be her skin tone - I'm super pale, and I get very blotchy in hot or cold water, but that would probably indicate a too-extreme temp for a baby.
I've tried warmer and cooler water, and she has the same reaction.
Although, last night DH gave her the bath and I never felt the water, so maybe the temp. had something to do with her skin turning purple. I know that it wouldn't have been way too cold, though because DH gives her baths all the time.
Maybe we are getting it too warm...we use one of those card things that shows whether the temp. is "ok" or not. (We also feel, of course.) I wonder if she just has extra sensitive skin, even for a baby?
This is what I instantly thought. The water is probably too hot.
I think you all may be right. I think maybe her skin is extra sensitive, and it's too hot for her. We are going to try making it cooler (cooler than an "ordinary" baby would like, I think?) and see if that helps.
Thanks, ladies!
And if it helps, a friend of mine had a baby that hated baths as well, and as soon as she started using cooler water, he loved baths.
Good luck!
ooohhh...thank you!
