We had DD last May (after 3 rounds of Clomid/IUI and then 3 rounds of injects/IUI). I'll be 40 this year so I feel the ticking....I would love to have 2-3 years w/DD alone but I'm thinking I don't have the time. Just thinking of all we went thru to get her, however is overwhelming.....did any of you have 2 pregnancies after 35?
Re: Thinking of having second baby
You bet. Had DD#1 when I was 37, and am about to have #2 in May at 39. (June brings my 40th.. yippee~!) I wanted to make plans to put 3 yrs between my kids (we wanted three, but realized that since we got going late that 2 would likely be all we'd get), and given my "ADVANCED MATERNAL AGE".. (god i hate that stupid phrase!), I figured we should start trying when DD #1 was around 18 mos. So - In August, preceded by a long speech to DH about how this is going to take TIME, I'm not YOUNG, my eggs are finely AGED, and we have to be PATIENT...
... I promptly got knocked up the first month we were trying.
Now - aside from the shock, because it's not what I'd planned and it dented my work schedule badly - I'm not complaining. I'm THRILLED my body pulled it out for me, but it just reminds me of the phrase I love..
"People make plans, and God laughs."
All this to say - you never know how much or how little time it'll take for #2 to show up. I'm not sure that there is really a right or wrong time to have another, or if there is a specific amount of time to put between them. I honestly believe that when it happens, ... well, that's the right time.
If you're feeling the ticking, and feel ready to get going again? go for it. I'm exhausted and am about to be more exhausted, but I am happy as a pig in ... well, you know the rest
Happy TTCing!

I used Clomid to get PG with my 1st baby. I was almost 35 when she was born. Three years later DH and I (now almost 38) decided to try for Baby #2. I fully expected to have a hard time getting PG. I was all set to start charting and go back on Clomid again. I ended up getting pregnant out of the blue. Literally, all it took was one time since there's not much action going on in our house with a small child. DH and I still can't remember when the blessed even occurred.
So, if you want another one, go for it. I hear from a lot of people that it's easier to get PG the 2nd time around. That was certainly my case.
I've been pregnant 3 times since turning 40. I got pregnant with my son at age 40, delivered at 41. Like you, we felt the clock ticking, and starting trying again when he was 9 months old. I got pregnant the very first month trying (at age 42). Unfortunately, that ended in a molar pregnancy. We were on doctor's orders to wait at least 6 months before trying again and wasn't sure how that would end up.........
Well, now I'm 13 weeks pregnant and I'll be 43 in 3 weeks. You can do it. If you want another, I say go for it! I could not be happier to be carrying a baby right now. (we are done after this one.)
Good luck to you!

You bet ! Working on # 2 right now. I was 36 when DS was born and I will be 39 when DD will arrive. It ended up taking us 17 months to get a successful BFP with both of our DC.
If I were in your shoes, I personally would not wait any longer.
