1st night not going well

Tonight is our first night home with one girl.  she's not eating well!  every couple of hours she is screaming for a bottle and eating her hands.  but she is only eating half of it.  this is different than what was happening at nicu.  she fusses when we put her down.

Oh no -- I'm sorry sweetie!

I've noticed that when my babies won't finish a bottle it's often because they have to burp or toot.  Gotta love gas!  Sometimes it can take a really long time to get the burps out.  Try patting and also rubbing in circles.  You can also try putting her down and doing the bicycle to get some gas out if she has it.

Are you using the same type of bottle as at the NICU?  Maybe she doesn't like the nipple?

I know its hard to hear but the first thing to do is calm down.  You getting worked up isnt going to help and babies can pick up on that.  My boys do exactly what the PP said they will not eat if gas needs to come out ether end.  If she doesnt want to be put down try a carrier or sling.  Try to get the gas out.  let her take in smaller meals more often.  You are in survival mode do what works to survive.  Stay calm and if all else fails and you feel you need help go in and get the help you need.  GL
