I have placenta previa

At my 20 week U/S my OB said I had a low lying placenta that would likely move, but not to worry unless I had any bleeding. I had an appointment yesterday and my belly grew a ton in the last 5 weeks, and I'm now measuring 4 weeks bigger than I am, which I also did with my last pregnacy.

He did an U/S yesterday and my placenta hasn't moved, so unless something changes, I'm in for a c-section, which is fine... Little One's health and my health are more important.

Of course I was doing some reading that said that women of an AMA are more suseptible (sp) to placenta previa. All I could do was sigh.

DH is freaking a bit b/c we had a friend with placenta previa who had a horrible delivery, and also b/c I have to go to Toronto in the next week to see my Uncle who is crtically ill. He's like a father to me, and if he were to pass away without me seeing him, I'd be devastated. My OB has said to go sooner rather than later, so I just have to make my plans and go (and buy some extra insurance just in case...). I think my OB only feels slightly better about things because I'll be AT a hospital most of my visit.

Sorry you have placenta previa.   But at least your OB seems to be on top of this and you're prepared for a C-section if need be.

I'm sorry about your uncle, too.

I go back in 2 weeks for an ultrasound to check on whether my low lying placenta has moved.  I am not too worried either way.  It is what it is.  Like you said...as long as the baby is healthy.  Take care.

This week I had my U/S and they found I had a low lying placenta.  I am now on "pelvic rest" for the next 6 weeks until they do another ultrasound.  What were your doctor's orders at your 20 week u/s when they discovered the placenta to be low lying?

I am assuming that "pelvic rest" means no sex?!  The dr. just told me to watch for bleeding.  I haven't had any yet::knocks on wood.

That's what my doctor said.  No sex. Didn't know if your doctor had given you any other instructions beyond that.
