My mom just called and told me that she is going on a cruise 10 days after my c-section. I didn't let her know it but it's really upset me. I'm going to need her help and she's going off on a cruise. Am I overreacting?
No, I wouldn't be upset. You'll still have her to help for like a week after your home right? That would be enough time for the real soreness to wear off and for her to be the most helpful when you're still trying to figure things out.
A little, but I wouldn't say anything either. I really liked having my mom around for the first two weeks, but my DH is completely worthless in the childcare category. He's great at entertaining, but horrible with caring for. So if you DH is any help at all, you'll be fine...that first week is the hardest anyway.
Um...ya, I would be upset. I had my mom the first week I was home and then my MIL for the 2nd week I was home. I felt much better the second week but it was nice to have MIL make all the meals. Maybe your mom can be there for you for until she leaves and then have your DH take vacation time for a few more days. I know a lot of men who take off when the baby is born...but I think I'd rather have the "help" after my mom left. Do you have a MIL or sister that could help out (even its just making meals for you)?
Why would she schedule the cruise so close to your C-section date? I mean was the deal that good she couldn't wait another 2-3 weeks? I guess that would be why I'd be upset.
