Poor little Max has terrible cradle cap. I've tried using vasoline and baby oil to losen it up and brush it out, but it's not helping. Any suggestions???
Ds's was really severe, and his doctor prescribed an eczema oil for his arms and legs, and then told me to use it on his head too. Its called derma smooth. I rub a little in once every few days about an hour before his bath, then wash it out during his bath. It completely got rid of it in two uses, I think.
Maybe ask your doctor about it? Or, I've seen cradle cap treatments at the drug store etc...they may be just as effective as the prescription versions.

I know there is a special shampoo you can use and can find it in the drugstore. My friend who works in a derm. office told me about it but I can't remember the name. You could probably ask the pharmacist.

We have been using Head and Shoulders dandruff shampoo and that has helped her scalp, but not behind her ears. Just be careful when washing it out so you do not get suds in his eyes. We tried olive oil, baby oil, and special Cradle Cap Care shampoo and none of them worked.

I posted yesterday and a lot of girls recommended a foam/cleanser made by Mustela. It can be found at BRU in the soap/shampoo aisle. They all said it worked great. I am going to try and do get some today.
We use Selsun Blue for dd, so far it works great. We just have to be careful not getting it in her eyes so we rinse it out using the washcloth rather than dumping water over her head.
We tried all the natural things too and it didn't really help so we bought some cradle cap shampoo (had tigger on it and was light green bottle, that's all i remember!) and it took care of it. I do remember it was just a brief phase she went through tho so thank goodness because it can get gross.

this is what my doctor recommended yesterday! On my way home i stopped and got the cradle cap care b/c they didn't have the shampoo but i'm gonna look for it today! The care worked the best for loosening the scales and made it pretty easy to brush out! It's by Gentle Naturals!

My sis said to use the Mestela, too.
I used Head&Shoulders and Aquafor yesterday and it works pretty good so far.
In the past:
- Baby Oil
- Aveeno Baby
