In the past few days my right nipple has started to REALLY hurt when I nurse DD. It is almost to the point where I can't go on nursing. She is 7 weeks old and we have never had problems before. I started using the Lansinoh cream yesterday and I think I might just pump on that side today. She seems to be latching on really well, but at the end of a nursing sesion she seems to be just sucking on the nipple a bit. How do I prevent that? I pull her off, but again...that is really painful! Ugh!

    use your finger to break her latch before you take her off. and if she's just using you as a pacifier at the end of a nursing session, i would take her off to give you a rest. be careful with the lanolin, it stains but it does help!

    I had the same problem a few weeks in. An LC was able to see what was wrong with my latch and fixed it. She also said to use the lanolin after each feeding even without pain.
