Forgive me if I am wrong, but it was your blog I stumbled upon one day and it was a post about one of your crib slats breaking. I just went to put my babies down to bed and saw a strange piece of black wood laying on the floor. Looks like my super human strength son kicked one of his slats out! I am freaking out because how dangerous this is. He could have been choked if he stuck his head through the slats. How can a crib not be strong enough to withstand an 17month old bouncing around in it? These were not cheap cribs! So I wonder what you did. Did you write a letter to the manufacturer? Was your crib replaced? What did you write in your letter? Any good angry lines I can use? Or did you call? I ended up turning the cribs facing eachother for tonight, but need to get this fixed or replaced asap! I am worried he could crawl right through the space. or worse. We have a pack n play, but they sleep miserably in them. I hope I can find a good way to "patch" it safely enough for him to sleep in it.  TIA!

  • YES - one of the crib slats broke.  Luckily is just snapped at the top and bottom and we wedged it back into place - I "secured" it with packing tape as well.

My husband called the manufacturer and they sent a replacement part to us - free of charge of course.  (A new side of the crib.)  They didn't give us a hard time or anything but the woman made the comment that they suggest moving babies to toddler beds at 15 months - yeah, right!

Good luck - I can't imagine them giving you a hard time.  Good thing your little one wasn't hurt.
