How Would You Spell It??

We are naming our daughter Raegan...... the question is how would you spell it??  I think that Raegan is more of a female way of spelling it instead of the traditional Reagan.  What are your thoughts??

  • depends on if you're shooting for Ree-gan or Ray-gan

    to me, Raegan = Ray-gan while Reagan = Ree-gan

there is a baby names board, btw.

  • I'd go with Reagan. Otherwise she's going to get to spend 1/2 her day spelling her name. Take it from me... that sucks.

    this.

  • While you are free to do what you want, name her that understanding that it will NEVER be spelled correctly on anything or by anyone who does not personally know it is spelled this way.  To me this is sad.

This.  Go with the most common spelling.

  • I've only seen it spelled Reagan.  Either way it fine but if you spell it Raegan chances are people will spell it wrong.  But that's what you get when you spell a name different.  ;)  That's what my daughter has to look forward to.  lol
  • I have a girl friend named REGAN.

    I think that works.

  • How bout Ray-Gun? She'd be really popular with the nerdy boys.
  • If you were naming her Elizabeth, would you spell it Elziathbe and pronounce it "Elizabeth"? Quit rearranging the letters in a traditional name to make it less traditional/more unique. You haven't made it unique or original, but you HAVE made your kid's life hell because they have to correct every damn document that will ever list the name.

I figure it's a way to get her back for when she's out drinking and having sex at the age of 15 and making my life hell.  Oh yeah....your name is different!  Deal with it. Surprise

The whole reason for name her Raegan is because Raymond is my husband's name and Megan is my name.  We mixed the two together....... the female form of Ray on the baby name websites I have found is Rae, it has nothing to do with trying to purposely be unique.

Regan would be R(aymond)+(M)egan. I think Raegan is too close to Reagan (which is too common) to use and not have people misspell it all the time.

But if you really want the "a" from Raymond, maybe you can do Raygan just so at least it's not so easy to misspell for Reagan--just another option (not necessarily a good one =P)
