Injection site, 1 week later

DD had the Pc and HIB shot a week ago.  Not sure how to describe this, here goes:  right under her skin at the injection site is 'hard'.  When I put pressure on it she doesn't even notice, so it can't be hurting her.  Has anyone else's LO had this happen...and last for a week?

Re: Injection site, 1 week later

  • DD had her shots last night and the pedi warned us this might happen.  I have had it myself before when I got a tetanus booster as an adult. As I understand it, that knot in the muscle is just your body dealing with the vaccination components.  I think it's no big deal but of course you should call your pedi if you're worried...a week does seem kinda long.  Have you tried massaging it a little bit?

No, I haven't tried massaging it...I'll try that in the morning.  I am gonna call her pedi when they open tomorrow, just figured I'd see if anyone else had seen this...and a knot is a much better way of describing it, LOL, thank you!
