AKA Saline Ultrasound? As part of my testing, I have one of those on Monday morning. Just wondering what it is like. Will it be just like a normal ultrasound? Any side effects? TIA
Yes, I had one two weeks ago tomorrow. It is more like a pelvic exam than a regular us. I did not take anything before mine and it wasn't too bad, but a lot of girls take 400-800mg ibuprofen before their appointment because there is a lot of cramping as they inject the saline. It only lasts about 5 minutes and it was just like a really bad period. Also, I would bring a pad with you I had some leaking of the saline afterward. I took the day off from work to do somethings I needed to do and I felt pretty good, but I did have some slight cramping until the next day. Page me if you have any other questions.
I took ibuprofen beforehand, which did help with the little cramping I had. They will insert a very tiny catheter (much thinner than a little straw) in through your vagina and use large syringes to inject the saline. My saline was cold but the overall SHG wasn't bad. Outside of the saline, it was pretty much like an u/s. Just remember - what goes in must come out - so be prepared for that and take a pantiliner or pad for whatever doesn't come out right after they finish. All in all, it's not bad. GL!

I had one as well and had the same experience. I took 600 mg of ibuprofen and only cramped during the ute inflation. The only difference is my cervix wasn't cooperating and wouldn't open enough so they had to do it manually. It was a sharp pinch followed by a pinching feeling throughout that day and the next. But all in all, it wasn't a bad experience by any measure. You will do fine.
