Pregnant after 35

** JennandJT **

Saw your response to my post below -- and yes, my DH was with me for the NT scan.  I'm so glad he was there.  At the doctor I go to, they have you meet with a genetics counselor first who goes over the test, what it screens for, and answers any questions you have.  She also did a mini-family history on both of us to help us decide if there is additional or different testing we might want to consider.  She explained what the results would mean and I thought all of that was very informative for him.

The best part, though, is seeing the baby.  That never gets old and my husband was riveted to the screen.  The scan itself took about 25-30 minutes and you see a lot of things that you wouldn't see at a level I u/s.  Plus, they turned on 3D and that was really interesting.  Your DH will probably want to be there if he is able so I would definitely take him if he's up for it.

My molar pregnancy was discovered on our first u/s when I was pregnant last summer, and thank God my DH was there or I would have fallen apart.  I wasn't really anticipating bad news, but your mind can really do a number on you sometimes.  DH doesn't go to my monthly OB appointments with me, but he's my rock for tests and procedures like this.  Good luck at your scan!  I'm anxious to hear your results too!

Re: ** JennandJT **

  • Thank you so very much for the information!!!  I'm really looking forward to seeing the more in-depth ultrasound and a sprout who is looking more like a baby!!  I still can't get over the fear that there may not be a heartbeat or something will be wrong which is exactly why I bring DH with me to the appts.  The last appt was my 1st monthly at 12 weeks and I was terrified that we wouldn't be able to hear a heartbeat on the doppler.  I had spotting (light brown and only when I wiped) and was terrified that this was the end.....I was holding DH's hand for dear life and when they finally found it, after what seemed like a million years but was probably 1 minute total, I started to bawl!!

I had a subchorionic bleed around 9 wks and they've been monitoring me pretty closely but I just can't get it out of my head that something will go wrong, now that I'm just about into the 2nd tri and the pregnancy symptoms are coming and going more frequently....more gone than present.....it freaks me out....I don't think there is much that doesn't freak me out these days!!  Lol.....thanks again for the info and for listening to a crazy woman rant!!  As soon as I find out anything and get back to work I will post and let you know how it goes....keeping my fingers, toes and all else crossed!! Thanks a bunch Big Smile

  • Those symptoms coming and going is so nerve-wracking.  I'm having it too and it freaks me out just like you.  After yesterday, though, I'm starting to relax a LITTLE.

Can't wait to hear how your scan goes.  Enjoy it, it's really cool.
