Fruit and veggie trays with dips. That's a long time for food to be sitting out though-is he going to rotate stuff in and out? You could do a pasta salad or something similiar too, but not if it's going to sit out all day.
You can make a pasta salad as long as you make it with olive oil instead of mayo.
What about bruschetta, quiche, wings, sausage balls? I saw this recipe in a magazine once where you took a pie that was already made (I believe they used key lime) and they took plastic spoons and put some of the pie in each spoon, they then toasted graham cracker crumbs and sprinkled a few on top. I've always wanted to try this. Sounds like you could use cheesecake too. And put a strawberry slice on top! Mmm!

Oh, and if you don't feel like making a bunch of stuff you could always go to Sams and buy stuff that you only have to heat in the oven. My Mom and Aunt did this for my bridal shower and everything was really good! The crab cakes and mini quiches were the best!
