Baby Names

Daddie-To-Be Rejects ALL My Ideas!!

How did you ladies come to an agreement on names?  After looking at multiple websites and checking out loads of baby name books from the library, my dear hubby has rejected just about every name I've come up with.

 I like:

Michael (Which is my hubbie's name-he thinks it's over used)

Mason

Jack

Skylar

Owen

Which do you like??  We desperately need help!

Re: Daddie-To-Be Rejects ALL My Ideas!!

  • I like Michael but I'm not into juniors.

I like Owen and Jack the best.

    I think Mason is OK.

    I hate Skylar

How far along are you? Sometimes men take a little longer to get in the mood for name picking...

  • Jack and Owen are great! ?

Michael would be a good MN.

Mason I like but not crazy about it. (again, maybe ?a nice MN option)

Skylar I also like but again its not my fave. DH loves this name though!?

  • I really like Mason and Owen.  Jack is good but kind of overused now.
  • I like everything but Skylar. That spelling always seems feminine to me. The original spelling Schuyler looks much more masculine.
  • Get him to throw out some suggestions instead of just vetoing!

  • I told my DH he didn't have the right to veto my choices if he didn't contribute to the name list!  If he's not going to come up with any of his own, he doesn't get a say...that's just me.  Hopefully, in the end he'll come around to one you like or start coming up with some of his own to throw into the mix.  The baby doesn't need a name until several days after birth, so you've got time!  Agreed that sometimes it takes men longer than women to get into the naming thing.

  • My favorite out of that list is Mason.
  • Michael is overused...how about as middle name?

    Mason - I love it

    Jack - I love it

Skylar - nms, don't like it at all

Owen is ok, I think it may be growing in popularity

  • Jack and Mason are my favorites.
  • I like all then names you picked except for Skylar.

  • Skylar is a girl's name!

Owen is my fav.  Keep working on it, you'll reach an agreement eventually!

  • Michael: I agree with your DH, unfortunately

    Mason: Okay

Jack: Love it, but I think it's becoming too popular

    Skylar: Hate it

    Owen: Love it

I'd go with Owen, for sure!

  • Tell him to come up w/ some ideas.
  • I like Michael, but I agree that it is a little too common.

Mason is a cute name but is a little too trendy-sounding for me.

Jack is a good solid name.

Skylar I prefer as a girl's name, but I also prefer the more traditional spelling - Schuyler.  I think with that spelling it looks less girly. (not sure why though!)

Owen is probably my favorite of all your names.  It is classic, works for a kid and an adult, and it not super common but not too trendy either.

  • WOW! I knew you ladies would come through for me! I really love all the responses and so does my husband. Well, based on the responses: Skylar is SO out!!!! I have heard it used as a male or female name, so I was tenative about that. The reason I like that name is because of this cute kid I went to elementary school with who was a California surfer boy. But have no fear, I have heard your cries of alarm and will NOT use that name! I am 20 weeks along and now that I'm showing and all that fun stuff, reality is setting in and I feel like time is ticking away. But, my hubbie is getting on board with the naming game. Thanks for all the help! :)

I like Jack, Owen, and Mason.  Can totally relate...DH says no to everything...but cannot come up with anything himself!
  • I like them all...not sure about Skylar though.

Skyler was on my girl name list and my mom remarked she thought it was like a "Brittney" or "Daphne"...like not the most intelligent name (no offense to people with that name...Spears did not help you on that one!)

So not sure how to react to Skylar, it doesn't fit well with the other choices so it probably is not the best one for you.

and I'm in the same boat, my husband likes nothing and has come up with nothing on his own.

  • I like Owen a lot.  Owen Michael...that's cool.  DH and I both loved Evelyn (for DD#1) the moment I said it out loud.  We're having a girl this time too and are having a horrible time finding a name since we feel like the "it" name for us was Evelyn.  We feel like we are settling on a name because there wasn't even a second runner up the first time.
