30 weeks cervical length 2.77

What's a normal length? The doc hasn't said anything to me yet but just got finished with a growth scan and by the way he is 3lbs 11 oz!!! lol....but I thought 2.77 sounded kind of low. Any help is appreciated thanks!!

Re: 30 weeks cervical length 2.77

  • 4mm is considered "normal" until you begin to efface. ?Around 34 weeks, the average cervix is 3.4cm. ?So, 2.77 is a bit short. ?Do you know if your cervix is still closed, however? ?That's really the important thing at this stage in the game.

2.77 is okay.  It gets worrisome when it gets below 2cm.
  • When I was 25 weeks my doctor said 2.5cm is when he starts to "get nervous".
  • I do OB sonos and we go by 2.5 cm for the lowest, so yours is great :)

  • oh wow....had no idea. I haven't had my cervix checked since I came in at 25 wks for pPROM. Even then all the nurse did was insert a speculum and told me it was still closed but she didn't put anything in there. I guess it will be a wait and see. Thanks ladies.
  • Ditto others who say 2.5 is the point of concern. That's what I've always heard is the length at which doctors are worried. Mine has varied from 3.2-4 (and I'm only 25 weeks) and my OB has always said it looked great and over 3 is awesome.

Yeah, if your cervical length on sono is normal, they dont usually do another one to check your cervix.  What shes sees from the outside is different though then what the ultrasound shows...like, if you were "dilated" the ultrasound doesnt show that so that is why the docs check it too from thier end :)

  • 2.77 is still considered in the "normal/average" range.  Anything 2.5 and below is shorter than normal.

That being said...mine was 2.7 at 20 weeks and continued to drop every few weeks. At 30 weeks I was around 1.9 cm.

So I'd say in your case at 30 weeks 2.77 is still good as long at you take it easy and get regular checks.  Good luck!
