i just bought the ergo carrier and am wondering whether i should also get a soft carrier such as the moby wrap or a hotsling. are there any stores that have both these carriers for people to test out?
for those who have any of these:
1) which carrier do you have?
2) how easy is it to put on?
3) pros? cons?
4) where did you buy it?
5) do you also have a ergo or baby bjorn too? if so, which do you use most?
thanks!!! ![]()
Re: moby vs hotsling carrier
1) which carrier do you have? I have a Moby and a Baby Bjorn
2) how easy is it to put on? It's becoming easier and easier to put on the Moby as I use it more.
3) pros? cons? The Moby is VERY versitle (sp?). There are lots of different holds that are way more supportive of a newborn/infant without real head control than a BB. It's easier to get her to sleep in it and holds her much better as I move around doing chores, ect. I like the Moby much better than the BB. The only down side is that it is not as quick/easy to put on as a BB.
4) where did you buy it? I bout the Moby at the Evergreen Lactation store (and they let me try it on).
5) do you also have a ergo or baby bjorn too? Yup.
1) I have a Moby, a Bjorn and an Ergo
2) Once you get the hang of it, the Moby is super easy. Having someone show you is best I think.
3) The Moby is great - soooooo secure for the tiny ones. Ben napped in it a lot. The Bjorn sucks and hurt my back before Bn was even 2 months old and only 10-ish pounds. The Ergo is fantastic, but you need the infant insert if you want to use it for little ones, and I haven't done that, so I dont' know how it is for the little ones. But for bigger ones, it's GREAT... the support is good.
4) got the Moby from a friend and the Ergo from Me n Moms. Look at https://www.cozybabyboutique.com/ - she carries lots of carriers and she's in Kirkland so you can go try them on.
5) yep, both. You need multiple carriers IMO
Don't know where you are, but Birth and Beyond also carries many different types of slings incl. the Moby and there's one in Fremont and one in Madison Valley.?
1) which carrier do you have? baby bjorn style, babyhawk (mei tai), and a hotsling
2) how easy is it to put on? all of them are fairly easy. the hotsling is nice cause you can keep it on in the car!
3) pros? cons? bjorn pro is that they can face out, con is that I don't know that it's so good for their hips. babyhawk pro is that it's a great carry, and they feel soooo light, and you can wear them on your back. con is that they can't face out unless they are on your back. Hot sling pro is that you can use several different holds, wear it in the car. Con is that it can make your shoulder sore, and it's hard to carry a bag on your other shoulder.
4) where did you buy it? infantino/bjorn style I got at Target; babyhawk I purchased from their website customized, hotsling I bought from a local mommy, regardingpeanut.com
5) do you also have a ergo or baby bjorn too? if so, which do you use most? I probably use the babyhawk most right now. When DS is big enough for a hip carry, I will probably start using the hotsling more.
Ditto Anne on Birth and Beyond in Seattle. Also, A Pea Pod store in seattle has a big selection of carriers to try on. (This isn't the pricey A Pea in the Pod clothing store.)
Not to throw more overwhelming options at you, but this one has a lot of the support of the Ergo, yet the baby can face in or out, or even go on your back: https://regardingpeanut.com/category_46/Pikkolo.php
1) which carrier do you have? I have a Moby and a baby bjorn but since youre asking about the soft carrier I will anwer all the questions about the Moby.
2) how easy is it to put on? It was intimidating at first, but it is very easy to put on after the first time or two.
3) pros? my baby loves it! I can shop for hours and he just naps in the moby then when he wakes up its super easy to flip him to a forward facing position without having to adjust the carrier. When he was a newborn, the moby was the only way I could get him to nap. I consider my Moby a lifesaver! cons? its a little intimidating to put on at first, but it gets considerably easier after the first time. The one thing I dont like about it is that you cant put it on outside because it will drag on the floor. Usually I just put it on before I go anywhere and then pop dc in it when I reach my destination.
4) where did you buy it? I actually got a Faux moby from lovey duds, I would recommend spending the extra $10 and getting the actual moby because the edges on my fake one are starting to roll up.
5) do you also have a ergo or baby bjorn too? if so, which do you use most? We have a Baby Bjorn, which we havent used yet, but probably will in the future for going to sporting events and places where dh will want to carry the baby.
