We have decided on the navy and white nursery (w/ a little 'lime' green likely) and here's what we're going for kind of.
I got this bedding yesterday (navy and white).
So here's the "issue"... we want to do the walls navy (a true navy if it doesn't look too dark) and have a white chair rail. Finding just the right navy rocker (I def. want an upholstered one, nto the traditional glider at all) is going to be really hard (unless I don't care about $$$$) and I'm not even sure a big navy chair up against a navy wall will even look good. White is proving hard to find at an affordable price (all are cream, yellow, beige) and plus, it'd be a huge white chair - that sounds scary!
So the only other option i thought of (really don't want green b/c again, it would be hard to find the right green) is this chocolate brown one. It has white trim which I think would tie it together, but now I feel like I have to have some other brown in the room to bring it together. I'm not sure I like that look or not. Any thoughts? What else would you bring in that's brown? So far I've thought about a brown changing pad cover for atop the white dresser and some brown baskets for organization.
Thoughts or ideas? Thanks!
Re: Do you think this chair would look ok?
That's the chair I'm getting so I do love it. I think it could work in the room but I would had touches of brown here and there just to tie it in. Otherwise you're eye will go straight to the chair and I don't think that's the main focus you want in the room.
I'm a bit concerned about the darkness of doing an all navy wall with a dark brown chair up against it. I do LOVE Navy walls but am worried it might be a bit dark. You can always try it though. That's the great thing about paint, it can be changed!
hey, i responded to my other post about what color walls below as well as green polka dotted sheets!
i swear we have the same issues! LOL, not a clue what color chair to get either. i will probably go with a blue chair, like the one in your inspiration pic, with white piping. i LOVE the white chair with the navy piping. so cool, but very impractical. really though, with the pbk bedding, you can incorporate all different shades of blue! i was at some random home store in my area and they had a big display of blue "stuff"...it was navy blue, white, light blue, medium blue, aqua, cobalt blue, slate/grey blue...gorgeous and so serene looking!

I was going to suggest the white wainscoting as well since all navy walls is a little daunting and then the brown chair would pop against the white. Other ideas for incorporating the brown would be a rug or as an accent in the window treatments--which I would keep mostly white/light colors. IMO you can get away with a brown chair since it has the white piping b/c it is upholstered furniture and does not need to "go" with the rest of the white furniture. It is complementary.
Thanks everyone!
Glad I'm not totally design challenged. I think we can easily make it work. I thought about white on the bottom of the walls like a few suggested but that seemed like a lot of work and I wasn't sure all of the white furniture would then look right up against it (plus if they were different 'whites', you know?) We're doing white crib, and then a white tall dresser and a shorter dresser for the changing table.
I am not sure about the brown. ?It just looks like it would stand out, and if you start bringing in more brown items, then it isn't the theme you wanted.
This chair is probably too expensive (it is $910 with the ottoman...eeek!), but how awesome would it look against the navy walls and the the white furniture? Maybe something cheaper can be found like it.

?This is very lime green, but I don't think it is quite as important for the greens to??exactly match as it is for the navys (unless you are going to all different shades of blue and make it intentional)
oh no! Doyou know when? I wasn't planning to order for a little while.
Oh no, the reviews said it was so comfortable! Now I am torn again between the fact it's being discontinued and what Janice said in that it would really be taking away from my original color scheme. Now I'm not sure I want to add brown... hmmm
Why is finding a WHITE chair so hard? I would probably do it if I could find a white one that's affordable!
I am so glad I opened this post! They are being discontinued & this is the chair I am set on! Looking into ordering one now! Thanks so much!
JCM there was a post on here receantly about a guy in Canada who does custom rockign chairs, they are not gliders butnot arm chairs but are very nice, he will do the wood in any colour as well as the fabric, he will also do custom material you send him if you wanted. The OP was from Chicago and it cost her under 400 to have it made & shipped. Then website is www.offyourrocker.ca You could do thewood to match your crib & a really nice navy & white fabric? Good Luck!
Yeah I actually saw that post and contact him! I was going to go with that, but then I really missed the big comfy upholstered look. That may be my last resort though
In your lime green, blue and white theme, I just found this furniture set.You can tailor it with lime green accents... made me wish I was doing lime green!

The brown chair is really cute.
I'm not sure what your budget is, but we bought a Best upholstered swivel glider for ~$500. They have several chair styles to choose from and a TON of fabric choices. It's very comfy, too. If there's a Buy Buy Baby or USA Baby near you, they usually have several models in the store to look at.
JCM- I did get to sit in this chair in the store and DH and I both found it more comfortable than the gliders and easier to rock than in the gliders. We also like the fact that when sitting in it, when we laid our heads back it hit perfectly on both of us for snoozing. Didn't let our heads fall too far back but did let them have a decent tilt. I did find the seat a bit deep for me (I'm 5'5") but I'm planning on putting a pillow on the back anyways so it didn't matter. I found one last one in stock in my local store so I snagged it up today and yelled at the guy that it was mine now and they better not sell it before I could come pick it up. Can you tell I was at my wits end with BRU as they also discontinued my crib yet still have it posted as available on their site!!! I wrote BRU a nasty letter about that...didn't end up making any progress but oh well it made me fell better. Don't mess with the preggers and their nursery shopping!!!!
Good luck in whatever you decide to do!
