Juliana is one of my favorite names, but a very good family friend is named that. I was thinking about Julianne instead. What do you think? The middle name would be Rose.?
I love, love, love Juliana Rose. Julianne sounds very '80s to me.
If I were you, I would use it anyway! You could say something like 'we've always loved the name, and knowing Juliana X makes it so much more special for us!'
You have great taste in names!

The thing is that she's actively involved in our lives. She's like the little sister I never had so it would be strange saying, "My Juliana" whenever I was talking about my DD. ?
I have no opinion on whether you should use the name, but it is our favorite girl name and top choice (Julianna Elizabeth). I do like Julianne but not as much....
I like both. One of DH and mine's favorite names is Julia but there is already a Julia at our church so we were thinking of Juliana or Julianne. I do have to say, Julianne really isn't that different from Juliana if you're trying to avoid it being the same name. I know you said she's very involved in your lives but if you love it that much, then use it. She could go by Juli, Jules, Ana, Annie, Ann or even Rose, it doesn't mean there has to be two Julianas.
I went to school with a girl named Julia Ann, but her parents called her Julie or Julie Ann (at school we just called her Julie). Her mom always said that she went with Julia so she could have a "professional" name.

Even though they're so similar, I think Julianna sounds more sophisticated and classic than Julianne.
FWIW I agree with a pp and love the name Julia more than either of these.
