What is the most you have ever spent on ONE article of clothing for your dc?

I have a very hard time spending lots of money on clothes or shoes that my dd is only going to wear for a little while.

I would say the most I have ever spent was around $40.00 for a dress.  Now my mom, thats another story, she spends a fortune on her grandbaby.

  • 40 for a pair of boots and maybe 30 for a top. 95% of the time it has to be on sale or I won't buy it.
  • $70 for a dress (last years Easter dress)  however the Easter dress I have chosen is $105.   It will be her 3rd 100 dollar dress- my mom bought the other too.

  • $40 on her first bday dress, $40 on a dress for SIL's wedding.

  • $17 for a t-shirt with a hermit crab on it.

The most I have spent on shoes was $30, and those were paid for with a gift card. Most of his shoes are no more than $20.

ETA: No. Wait. His winter coat was $25, and he'll be able to wear it next year, too.

  • For DD: $195 a few times for some portrait dresses.

DS: $96 for a pair of wool slacks and matching wool suspenders.

I was able to resale them at cost most of the time so I don't think they cost me anything even after the kids wore them 5 or 6 times.

  • I'd say $45 or $50 and that was only ONCE! I can't stand paying a lot of money for something, but I REALLY loved that dress and I made sure she got LOTS of use out of it!

  • For DD, probably less than $30.00 on Ecco shoes.  I get a lot of nice hand me downs and I shop good brands on 50 or 75%
  • $85 for a pair of kids cowboy boots.
  • Not much at all! Maybe $25 for a jacket once? I have spent large-ish amounts for a bunch of clothes at once, but never a lot for just one thing.

  • I'm the same way, I feel like I'm throwing away money since they can only wear them such a short amount of time.  However, as DS gets older and can wear things longer I spend more money to get better quality.  So for him, probably $60ish on shoes, $150 on a suit for my sister's wedding.  I think I have spent $50 or so for special occasion dresses for DD #1. DD#2 I've hardly spent anything for her on clothes yet.

I think his Keans were $55.

Clothing..my mom bought him a $50 coat.  I probably haven't paid more than $20 for anything.  Maybe $25.

  • just spent $51 today on a pair of pediped flex sneakers for DD.
  • $80 on a hand made christening gown that we bought in Venice.  Both kids wore it though and it will be a family heirloom.....

For every day clothing the most I have spent on a single item is $40, but I usually wait for sales.

  • On one item?  Maybe $50-$60.  His first birthday outfit was a one piece Bailey Boys thing that cost ~$50, I think.

I've spent more on outfits for him for events, and with boys it adds up rather quickly since it's usually pants, shirt, etc.

Oh wait - his baptism gown was from Strasburg Children and was like $200.  Although it's not really HIS, we'll use it for all of our kids.  It's an heirloom piece.

  • $55 for Stride Rite shoes because she needed very specific ones with laces/a high rise for her PT and I wanted cute ones.  Other than that, I think $48 for a pair of mini Boden cords that I am hoping will fit for 2 years!
  • Ds: I think his Keens were around $45 and his winter coat was about $40.?

Dd: For a single piece (not a whole outfit, just one piece) I think the most expensive is probably around $20- a Tea tunic on sale. ?

  • $30 for a pair of Robeez.  I don't even like them, but they have the Eiffel Tower on them (I'm a tad obsessed with Paris)
  • $40 on Pedipeds.  I used a gift card.

Other than that, I don't think I've spent more than $20 for one item -- even coats.

  • $60 on a winter coat.

99% of her pieces are $15 or less, but I try to keep it under $10 a piece.

I do spend more on shoes ($30-50 per pair).

  • I think her snowsuit was $40.

Other than that, I think top was $25-30.  I generally go to the clearance sales and stock up on things for $2-5/each.

  • $65 and DH still teases me about it. It was a pure cashmere sweater from Banana Republic when they briefly dabbled in kids clothes. It was on sale from $100 I think.?

DS was not quite 12 months and this was 18 months size (and DS is only average size), so I thought he'd get 1.5 winters out of it. He is STILL wearing it at nearly 3! It just fitted better from 2-3 really, its getting a tiny bit short now.

It was expensive and I don't usually do that but he's certainly had the wear to justify it. He's worn it about 10x as much as the $25 childrens place sweater I got in the same season.

We also bought a few pairs of robeez over his infancy and they weren't cheap, but still only half the sweater's cost.?
