  • check out the archives on the sew mama sew blog. that will keep you busy if you sew!
  • Loading the player...
  • what sort of crafting do you do?  ravelry.com is good for knit and crochet.  someone else recommended crafster as well for a wide variety of crafts..they're a dot org btw - crafster.org.  :-D

  • I mostly sew, though I'm in the process of teaching myself how to both crochet and knit. I know, I know .. I'm kind of OCD and obsessive/compulsive and indecisive about what kind of crafting I want to do!!!

I'm really open to anything ...

And I'm already all over Sew Mama Sew and Craftster ... keep 'em coming!

  • I second Ravelry and Craftster.  Also, marthastewart.com and whipup.net are both good resources.  Start a blogroll, too.  There are tons of talented bloggers out there.
  • lol - if you're already crazy OCD with your crafting stay away from me because i'm the same way and we'll just feed each other's craziness!  DH can't stand it - i have a kiln and torch from my stint in glassworking/glass bead making (decided that our current setup is unsuited towards the necessary ventilation and that i wanted a better torch which requires oxygen tank rental which is annoying/difficult to figure out how to do), containers and containers of beads from jewelry making that i got frustrated with because i wasn't selling things on my etsy store frequently, 4 giant tupperwares of yarn/knitting/crochet supplies from my previous (and now current) obsession with fibers along with a smidge of roving and hand spindle from wanting to learn to spin.... hmm...what else.. lol.  basically whenever there's something someone else does that i haven't/don't know how to do i want to learn super bad.  oh sewing!  that's supposed to be my next endeavor except the sewing machine i got for xmas is still in the box seeming like a giant deal to try and set it up and get started.

    okay - ramble over.  :-)

Lytedark, I love you! Sounds like we're awfully the same when it comes to crafting. DH bought me a sewing machine for Christmas and I've been using it every night for the past week! I.love.it.!!! You should start sewing ... :-)

  • hahaha!

did you have experience sewing before getting the machine?  i haven't really sewn much since high school home ec class apart from borrowing a friend's machine to make a few rice bags once and she set everything up for me, i just basically had to push the fabric and step on the gas!!  lol..  i really really want to learn but don't have anyone to teach me and it feels so overwhelming!

Honestly, before I started my most recent projects (baby quilt and diaper bag) I hadn't sewn since some 4-H projects .... 15 years ago. It's like riding a bike, though. :-) I promise!!!!!

Why not ask your friend for some help? Or, see about taking a class at your local Joann??

sadly the friend lives too far away to help me now and we are too poor currently for me to spend the money on a class - but i totally want to do a quilting class when i can.  that is what i'd love to get into the most with the sewing machine - quilting.  :-)

I check that site almost every day! I have only made 1 thing that she featured. I do save a lot of links though, thinking that maybe someday I will actually get to do them! :)
