Bleeding 1 wk after d&c?

I had a d&c after m/c last Thursday, a week ago.  Except for the few hours after the surgery, I have barely had any bleeding at all - just enough to occasionally see on toilet paper.  Late last night, I started bleeding much more like period flow and have had increased cramping. I am not hemmorhaging and the cramps are still not any worse than a normal period, but its just different than before.  Is this normal to have bleeding start a week after the d&c?

It has also been a week for me.  I only had spotting for a couple days.  No period-like bleeding for me.  I am cramping more today than I have been.  I don't know what "normal" is... it may be worth a call to your doctor?  I wouldn't think that your body would have enough time, in only a week, to have a "normal" period.

I am so sorry for your loss.

I had a D&C after a missed m/c last Thursday, as well.  I actually had severe hemorrhaging afterward and was back in the hospital on Sunday, but asked what was "normal" so I would know when I had to come back a second time.

The physicians said that after a D&C there should be very little bleeding to moderate bleeding with cramping that can be controlled with ibuprofen (mine was not controlled wtih narcotics).  If you have large clots very frequently - like more than 1x/2-3 hours - it is not normal.

Anything less seemed to be okay with them.  I asked a million different ways.

This whole experience has been a nightmare - I wish you all the best and hope this helped a bit.

I had very little bleeding after D&C.  About a week later had period like bleeding.  Turned from brown to bright red. Lasted about three days then went back to brown. Total bleeding lasted about 10 days.  Dr said if I soaked a pad in 1 hour to call her.  That was my experience.  Hope that helps.

Sorry for your loss! I had my D&C two weeks ago today. I bled like a period Thurs-Sun and Mon after had very little bleeding, didn't bleed Tues or Wed. Then I woke up Thurs (a week after) with a a lot of blood and then no blood again until this past Monday where I woke up to a lot of blood and then none since. Wow..I hope that made since. Mine has been off  and on and I have very little to no cramping. My doctor also said to call her if I was bleeding through a pad in an hour.

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

I had minimal bleeding (basically just spotting) after my D&C. About a week later, I suddenly had cramps and bright red bleeding for two days. I called my doc's office and spoke to a nurse who said that unless I was going through one pad per hour, this was normal. Sure enough, this only lasted two days and then it was back to spotting for a week. Fun, huh?!?
