Going to Oakland Macomb Obgyn...

tomorrow for my first appointment.  What should I expect?? I am seeing Dr. Valice.  They said we rotate doctors so that is nice.  I have never seen a male OB, so I am a little nervous, but I had better get used to it!!  Thanks to the ladies who recommended them.

  • I like him, he's very soft spoken, I also like Dr. Love.  Dr. Stark is usually booked, and she's hard to see.  I love the midwives too they are all so nice, and you usually don't wait as long in the waiting room for them.

  • I've not met dr. Valice, but really liked Dr. Love and Dr. Wallace.  I felt like Dr. Morgan had an extra chromosome and was pretty flighty.

I now see the midwifes and have met 2 of the 3 so far. I love them - they are awesome!

  • Good luck tomorrow!  The first appointment is always exciting because it makes everything seem more real :)

Dr. Valice is nice-I'm sure you'll like him.  I rotated through all the docs, but I ended up seeing him quite a number of times.  The first appointment they'll do a pap if you haven't had one recently, so come prepared for that.  They also take a urine sample (as they will the rest of your exams).  You'll have bloodwork done and then they just go over a lot of the basic info and discuss some optional genetic screenings that are offered (like the NT scan).  Then they'll answer any other questions you have.

Dr. Love and Dr. McBride were probably my two favorites.  I didn't see Dr. Goymerac too much since she had gone out on maternity leave but the one time I saw her, she was extremely friendly.  Being she was pregnant too, we spent a lot of time just talking about our babies.  Dr. Wallace recently had a baby as well so she seems to relate well.  Dr. Stark, like a pp said, usually books up fast so you might not see her too often.  Dr. Morgan didn't seem flighty to me, she's just a down-to-business type of person so she doesn't seem one for small talk.  She ended up performing my c/s and she seemed to really warm up though when I was at the hospital.  The rest of the staff is friendly too.  I got to know the girl who draws blood pretty well so we would always talk.

  • Also- make sure to go to their website and sign up for the health profile.  It's kind of a nice tool because it'll list any upcoming appointments scheduled, you can view any lab results, and it lists all your vitals from each appointment.

  • Dr. Valice performed my c section & everytime I see him, I turn into a stuttering mess- I just think he's so hot!!!  :)  When I was getting induced, I mainly had the midwives come in my room but whenever he came in, I would go to my DH "Look!  It's the hot doctor!", just to tease DH.  ;)  They are all really nice, though, since you'll probably be seeing all of them @ least once.
  • Dr. Valice and Dr. Morgan aren't my favorites (only because I don't love their bedside manner), but I LOVE the rest of the doctors!  Dr. Love and McBride are my absolute favorites.  GL!  I hope you like it there too!
