If you had a csection+

did you feel like you couldn't walk straight for a little while, like those first 3-4 days?  I felt like it was more comfortable to walk w/ a hunch as my belly hurt so much.

  • I didn't stand up perfectly straight for days. ?I hobbled everywhere. ?In the hospital, I walked behind my wheelchair, hunched over.?

    ouch.?

  • yup until my staples came out then I was like a new person.  I think for me it was the staples pulling my tummy

  • Yup, I was?hunched?that first time out of bed, but I was making trips to the NICU every couple of hours, so I straightened out pretty quickly!
  • Kind of. I think it was more psychological than actual pain. I was fearful that I'd rip a stitch if I stood up straight. Plus, the AE that did my epi practically killed my back. That's more of the reason why I walked like the Hunchback of Notre Dome for a few days.

  • I felt like a little old lady I was so hunched over. I think I was ok by the time I went  home though. I don't really remember when I was able to walk straight.

  • I honestly never paid attention to my posture.

Ditto - I was too worried about just making it to the bathroom and back to bed!

  • I don't remember.  I do remember that after the first day I felt pretty a-ok except for getting in and out of that hospital bed. . . why do they make them so damn high.

  • I felt that way with DD.  With DS the hospital put a corset type thing around my belly and incision.  It was a thick piece of elastic that velcroed on.  I loved that thing.  It made me less scared to walk around and cough or laugh.  It held everything in.  I will definetely use it again.

  • YES! I got really ticked off at the nurses in the hospital too because they kept telling me I needed to walk around straight, one day after. Come on, it HURT!
  • The nurses told me to walk with a pillow against my abdomen the first few days. I don't remember walking hunched over or anything, but it hurt like a mother.

  • No I haven't had a c section but I have had much bigger abdominal surgeries - 30+ of them, actually I lost count after 38, only a couple were not abdominal so that's still 35+ I guess.

Its normal to hunch to self-protect out of instinct. But not out of pain. They can give you great pain relief if you ask for it. And yes it can be safe for BFing mothers too...I actually asked about that last time as I was BFing (even though it wasn't a c section but some adhesion revisions 6 months pp).

Also you can get an epidural for a c section if you talk to your anesthesiologist, and unlike the spinal they can leave it in the first couple of days and you would have no pain, be able to walk and BF etc etc.

I hate to hear about women in unnecessary pain. I'm sorry your Dr did not take care of that.?

    ?

  • Yes for about a week... especially after riding in the car....
