Taking 2 into daycare?

Okay, this is a logistical post: If you have two infants going to daycare, how the heck do you get them into the building? Do you use the DSNG? Carry them both in their infant seats? Something else?  Please share your wisdom!  Thanks!

  • I would think the DSNG would be best because you will also be carrying their bags for the day and other items.

  • I think it depends on the daycare center. At mine, the owner helps me get them in and out of the car. I park right in front (it's on a residential street) and they meet me at the door (a few steps from the car) and I hand off the babies.

  • I am wondering the same thing...except I will have two 11/12 month olds (we are going to start next month some time).  I have an open house at the daycare this weekend, this is one of the things at the top of my list to ask!
  • I carry them in their carriers...for now.  At the end of the day I park close to the back door of the classroom and they let me go out that way and hand me the carriers.
  • I have tried the following: (i always take their stuff for the day in a backpack) carrying two infant carseats (too heavy), DSNG (hard to get into the door without the door bumping the stroller and me not falling over from stretching my arm so far), carrying one in my arms and taking the other one in a single stroller (didn't work so well b/c I had no spare arm to open doors), carrying them in my arms like I carry them at home, one facing in one out (not so easy when they have snowsuits on, they become very limp), and finally what worked the best so far, is taking them in in a small, lightweight tandem double stroller. I have city mini double that i keep in my car. I personally highly recomend this approach as long as the stroller fits through the daycare's front door.

  • I am struggling with this right now.  It is a PITA!  I have tried everything and other than my husband coming with me it all sucks.

I have done the double umbrella stroller - Probably the best of all options but it is difficult to set up lately

I have tried carrying them in using the Safe Seats -  UMMMM yeah, nothing like 50 pounds of baby and car seats along with a diaper bag

Today I tried carrying them in on each hip.  Probably would have worked but neither baby wanted to hang on.  Luckily a teacher saw me and came and helped.

It is the only bad thing about taking them to day care (that and them getting sick).

  • While the weather is cold I have been lugging them in their car seats.

This week (while the weather was nice) I put them in the stroller and then plunked them in their seats.  It was a little more time consuming but it was nice.

  • the mom with twins in DS's class used to put them into a double umbrella stroller.... once they started walking she used a tandem "leash" type thing to get them to/from the car seafely without them running in 2 directions in the parking lot.

i have no idea what we'll do with 2 infants + a toddler... ugh.

  • I park right in front of the door and carry them both in in their car seats.  I leave their bag at daycare so I only have them and bottles to take in everyday and I bought a carrier for the bottles.  This is what the other mother of 4 month old twin boys there also does.
  • I still carry them in their carseats.  I have one bag for the food/bottles and the diaper bag with the extra clothes.  I carry one on each arm.  I've found the least painful/tiring way to carry them is to loop my arm through the handle, so that each handle is in the crook of my arm.  There is almost always someone around to help me with the door in the morning, and someone usually helps me carry them out in the afternoon.
  • I carried both infant seats until they grew out.  After that, one of the moms in older DS class offered to help, and she carries one, I carry the other.  Had she not offered, I'd put them both in the stroller.  PITA!!  At pick up, one of the teachers in their class helps me bring one out to the car.
