I was talking with some friends IRL and the old wive's tale about getting pregnant while ovulating during a full moon came up. So, there is a full moon tonight and I should be O'ing anytime so of course this sparks some extra interest (hope) this month.
I found this on the web - I have become obsessed with the idea. It's silly I know but I'm bored so humor me...
There is anecdotal evidence that women too are more likely to get pregnant if they ovulate at the time of the full moon. In the past, before the advent of electricity, it seems that women generally menstruated during the dark of the moon and ovulated during the full moon.
Since we now have powerful lighting available 24/7, we are less dependant on natural rhythms. This may help explain why many women these days have irregular menstrual cycles. If your cycle is irregular, trying to get it in phase with the moon may not only make it regular but also boost your chances of getting pregnant.
Let's discuss...
Re: Full moon and ovulation
My thoughts, exactly.
How the F would they suggest that I get my cycle in rhythm with the effing moon?
Moonwalk *THIS,* MF'ers!
Me too --- living by candle light only??

(sorry - don't know how to make it clicky)
Getting Your Cycle In Phase With The Moon
By keeping your bedroom completely dark apart from the 3 days of the full moon, you will help reset your body clock in harmony with that of the moon.
If you want to try this, you need to lightproof your bedroom. Get good heavy curtains or blinds so that no light whatsoever can get into the bedroom from the street or from the cracks around the door. Then you need to sleep completely in the dark, and even if you wake up in the middle of the night to go to the loo, you should go in the dark!
Then for the 3 days of the full moon, i.e. the day of the full moon and a day either side, sleep with the curtains open so the light of the moon can shine into your room. If the moon doesn't shine into your bedroom, sleep with a shaded low light on instead. This way your body tunes into the light of the moon and gets into harmony with the moon cycle.
How Long Will It Take To Work?
Depending on how irregular your cycle is and how far your ovulation is away from the full moon, it may take a few months for your body to get in phase. Record how your cycle is changing by charting and be patient. Although this method is not scientifically proven it certainly works for some women.
Okay, I'm all about being earthy and crunchy, but this just sounds like complete horsesh*t.
