I've been bumming lately because 1) I got laid off in October and haven't been able to find work since, and now that I'm getting further along in my pregnancy, and since I'm going to be a SAHM anyway, I've just pretty much given up on any job search 2) It seems like most of my friends have fallen off the face of the earth since I got pregnant. Well, I had one really good friend, and all she wants to do is go out and party these days and doesn't have time for me.
I also don't have a car right now, which makes everything even harder.
So, long story short, I need to get out of the house, and I would love to make some new friends that are also pregnant or moms. I would love to join a group of some people that meets up sometimes. So where do you find these groups!?
Re: So where do you find these mom groups to join?
We do a lot of get togethers here. A bunch are recurring so you could call that a mom group. I know quite of few ladies use meetup.com to find mommy groups. Not sure if you are north/central/south, but we try to do stuff all around so no one feels left out.
I think if you google mom groups austin, tx you'll get some too.
good luck and hope to see you at a gtg!
I started with Lamaze meetings; there were three in my area (SW Austin) each month just to get out of the house and meet new moms (I did that for two months until I found out about MOMS Club (www.momsclub.org). MOMS Club is by geographic community (great for you considering your car situation) and you can find out if there is one in your area at the website. Let me know if you need more information...
Good Luck
We also have non-mom gtgs (book club, game night, happy hours). I think Jezca adds people to the evites for that. It's another great way to meet some pretty cool women.
By "non-mom" I mean that it's not a mom/baby gtg, but I certainly brought Jack to a few w/ me when he was nursing.
We also have PG GTG's through this board. Page MrsMillerTime and she can add you to the list. (she can also add you to any of the other groups, book club, etc)
