Baby Names

Two part question (opinions)

1.  What do you think of the name(s) Sophia/Sophie?

2.  What middle name would go with either of the two?

TIA.

Re: Two part question (opinions)

  • I like Sophia w/NN Sophie.

    Sophia Marie is my fave.

  • I have always loved the names Sophia and Olivia..

If I have a girl I plan to name her Sophia Marie..

I just think Marie sounds so nice after Sophia, plus its my middle name!

  • I love the name Sophie (obviously).  Besides Jane, other middle names we considered were Anne, Eleanor, Louise, Grace, and Danae.
  • Sophia was my top girl name until it became so popular.  I still love it.  It is gorgeous and so fitting for both a girl and a woman.  If you go with one of those names, I vote for Sophia with nn Sophie.  I like the mn Rose and Grace.  Good luck!

    Sophia Rose

    1. Sophia and Sophie are nice enough names, but I wouldn't name my children those names.

    2. I'd use a family name?

  • I like Sophia better than Sophie. I think Sophia Charlotte, Sophia Caroline, Sophia Elise, and Sophia Josephine all sound nice. Go with a shorter middle if you have a very long last.

  • 1.  Both are super common.  I prefer Sophia.

    2.  I might choose a family name for a middle name.  Do you have any good choices in your family?

  • 1.  They're both very nice names.  I think Sophie is a little less common these days than Sophia.

    2. Sophie Louise, Sophie Mariah, Sophie Augusta, Sophie Beatrice, Sophie Ruth, Sophie Therese.

  • I like Sophia better, Sophie is always a nn option.

I like Sophia Louise, Sophia Grace, Sophia Claire.  My friend has a DD named Sophia Ismene.

    Married in 2008 - DD born in 2010 - EDD 6.15.2012!
  • I don't just love Sophie or Sophia, they kind of still sound like old lady names to me (and I love a LOT of names that other people think sound like old lady names).  But they're really popular, so I'm clearly in the minority.

Even though I *know* that Sophie is a stand alone name (and the French version of Sophia/Sofia), I feel like Sophie sounds like a nickname for Sophia, so I prefer Sophia with Sophie as the nickname.

I have two good friends with daughters named Sophie.  One is Sophie Grace and the other is Sophie Claire.  I like family names for middle names, though, so my suggestion would be to use your daughter's middle name to honor someone in your family.

  • I like Sophia with Sophie as a nickname

Any one sylable name would sound good (Ann, Marie, Claire, etc)

  • 1. The names are absolutely adorable, but they have gotten too popular in the last few years.

    2. I think Grace or Marie would be pretty with either first name.

  • 1. Both are super common.

    Sophia Marie is my fave.

    I completely agree with this.

  • I'm a big fan of a formal first name and single syllable middle names ...

    Sophia ...

    Grace - Dawn - Claire - Kay - Anne - Faye - Paige - Hope - Eve ....

  • DH and I love the name Sophia but we weren't sold on it because it's so popular right now. (turns out we're having a boy, so it's a moot point)  We were also thinking of Sophia Marie.
  • sophia reminds me of the golden girls.

i am big on family names for middle names, but i also like sophie eloise for some reason.  it just popped into my head, and i think it flows well.
