When did your babies develop a real schedule?

Just wondering when your twins dveloped a real schedule.  My babies are almost two months old and are starting to show signs of an eating and sleeping schedule-the late mornings are usually a good nap time for them (close to a three hour nap), but the rest of the day is somewhat unpredictable.  It could be that DD and DS keep them awake from all the noise they make, but I'm trying to limit the noise when I think the babies are sleepy.  The evenings are also hectic too, and the babies don't usually settle until after 9 p.m.  They are just about two months old,  and I can't for the life of me remember when my older kids settled into a routine.

What kind of schedule do/did you have when your babies were little?

Re: When did your babies develop a real schedule?

  • Mine sort of have one but I guess it's more of a routine than a schedule. During the day we try to do eat/play/sleep, and recently I've started putting them down about 90 minutes after they woke up, so each three-hour cycle is half awake and half asleep. Their evening/bedtime schedule has been varying a lot though. They are sleeping longer stretches at night but it varies a lot, which means their morning wakeup times vary as well.

  • When mine were that young, they were pretty unpredictable. I remember the 9:00 bedtime. I believe mine were around 5 months when they developed a scheduled that worked for all of us. I did read Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child which helped a ton.

  • Sadly, every time we think we're on one, they change it.  We've JUST started to get nap time working on a set schedule on the weekends.  Not sure if it will last long.  To me, anything under 3 mos is still pretty much survival stage.  Good luck!
