Question on Peg Perego Strollers...

My sister found a great deal on one of these strollers and says they are the best strollers out there...her exact words are "This is the Louis Vuitton of strollers"  I personally don't care about brand names, but more about quality and safety.  The one she found is a John Deere Centro stroller...which doesn't thrill me much.

However, I am curious if any of you know anything about this brand and if it really is worth it?  If it is a GREAT amazing stroller...I would consider it even though the John Deere ensignia is on it.  What do you all think?

Re: Question on Peg Perego Strollers...

  • I will be getting the Peg Perego Pliko P3 soon.  They are very popular here in Germany and actually a little cheaper then in the US.  My friend has one that I have borrowed when we walked real far so I could put my 4 year old (when she was younger) in it.  I love it.  It steers good, itsn't all that big when folded up, it's easy to put up and down, seems very comfy, and the storage under it is a good size.  My sister also bought one that they had at her store for sale (Marshal's) it was only $100 there because it was just missing the cup holder!

I can't say it is the BEST stroller out there but here, my options are pretty limited since I do not want to pay shipping on a big stroller from the US and I really do like this one.  It seems to last really good.  My friend's son is now 2 1/2 and it is still in great condition even after using it very often and outside a lot.

  • I don't know about that particular model, but my friend who has a 1 year old went with me to look at the Peg Perego strollers... I wanted a practical opinion from someone who knew what to look for.

The thing that bothered her about most of the PP strollers was that the handle is not ONE bar straight across, but rather one handle on each side. She said she often has something else in her hand when pushing the stroller (water bottle, maps, etc.) and that it would swerve the stroller if you could only hold on with one hand on the far left or right, rather than a stroller that has a bar across, which you can hold with one hand but still position in the middle.

I thought it was a good point, but I don't know if I've explained it well enough on here or if it really is valid and a concern! Stick out tongue

  • We saw that deal too and I almost bit the bullet on that one.  The only thing that stops me is the weight--it's over 20 lbs, and me being on the smaller side it would be harder to get in and out of places.  It doesn't compare to some of the other Peg models--unfortunately there are not really reviews out there for this stroller.

Peg does make quality strollers though, so I guess you really can't go wrong!  My DH looked at this when i told him about it, and he says it really doesn't look like John Deere (I told him if we got this it would be his man stroller lol), it kinda looks like a normal stroller.  It's a great choice--we decided to pass on it but I'm sure it's great!

  • I have the Pliko P3 from 2005 or 2006 and love it.  It is very lightweight and folds up much smaller than most full sized strollers.  The seat seems to be very comfortable.  I find it very easy to steer with one hand and the handles are adjustable so it is a little more comfortable for taller people.  It came with a strap to secure my Graco Snugride infant carrier to the stroller to make it a "travel system."  The only drawback I can think of is that that basket isn't huge and you have to put stuff in it from the side rather than the back.

I don't have any advice on the John Deere sticker problem.  I gues if it's a good deal, I'd probably get it even though I'm not a John Deere person.

  • I have the Peg Perego Pliko P3, we bought it when we were expecting our 1st born, almost 4 years ago. 2 kids later, still looks brand new and I could not be happier with it. It works great in the mall or on the trails while I am walking the dog. Easy to steer, handle height adjusts if you are short or tall. Great sun canopy, lots of storage in the basket underneath, etc.

Good luck making the decision, I would have a hard time biting the John Deere bullet.

We pushed a bunch of strollers and didn't like the Peg as much as the Chicco. We didn't end up getting either one, though.

  • I've pushed my friend's Pliko 3 and while it's very nice, I like my Bumbleride better.
