Anyone else taken a Z-pack for a cold? My OB prescribed it so I guess its ok? I read it was a category B...but I was wondering if anyone had any side effects?
A cold is a virus, thus antibiotics don't do a damn bit of good.
Now if you have an upper respiratory infection, bronchitis, or a sinus infection they can work for you. My DO prescribed this for me when I developed bronchitis at 28 weeks. I also took Mucinex, vapor rub, and drank lots of fluids. Hot tea, apple juice, water, and chicken soup.
as for side effects... same as for any other antibiotics... upset stomach, diarrhea are very possible. eat activia while you're on them and you should be ok...
Re: Z pack for a cold?
If your doc said it was ok, then I would go with that, instead of a bunch of pregnant women who AREN'T DOCS.

Get better.
Side effects include:
ACTUALLY LISTENING TO YOUR DOC.
Is that seriously something worth risking?!?!?!
If I tell you it's not ok, are you not going to take it?
ditto on the cold/virus/antibiotic bit.
